Qualification goals
Students can describe the economic, ecological and cultural significance of the building stock as well as the special tasks for a civil engineer in this field of activity. They are able to explain the advantages and disadvantages of different maintenance strategies and calculate maintenance budgets for real estate portfolios. You can also describe special procedures for construction in existing buildings and the basics of Building Information Modeling. In addition, students are able to present the legal framework for energy-related renovation measures and apply the methods of evaluating the energy performance of buildings.

For students of civil engineering this term paper is part of the module Building in Existing Contexts and Energy Efficient Renovation and is a partial achievement of this module.
Students of Industrial Engineering cannot choose this term paper either within the module Digitization in Building Management or within the module Facility Management in Hospitals.
The topic of the term paper is based on the module parts and Building on existing stock and Energetic Refurbishment. Approx. 10 pages are to be worked out in writing. The partial performance is concluded with an approx. 10-minute presentation of the prepared homework contents.
