Qualification goals of the lecture

The students have basic knowledge of sensor networks, building automation and the application of the "Internet of Things" (IoT) in facility and real estate management. They are able to critically view digitization technologies (including network structures, cloud storage, sensor distribution, data protection, augmented reality, etc.) and evaluate them according to the requirements of facility and real estate management. Project work during the semester enables students to independently assess the optimisation potential of building automation and to implement simple sensor networks as well as to implement the basics of "Augmented Reality" with the help of HoloLens.

Content

  • Terms and basics of digitisation
  • Application of Internet of Things in building automation
  • Integration of sensor signals in FM processes
  • Visualization of maintenance and inspection work through Augmented Reality (HoloLens)
  • Elaboration of a project work with colloquium during the semester

Course of the lecture

The course of this lecture can be divided into two parts:

  1. At the beginning of the lecture, basic programming skills are taught, as well as the necessary programming tools and tools are explained in an understandable way. No prerequisites are required to carry out the subsequent project work.
  2. Subsequently, a pilot project will be jointly identified which is to be implemented. A prototype with complete documentation is to be developed with the support of the institute. A concluding presentation rounds off this module.

Exam

The grade consists of the documentation (written elaboration and lecture/colloquium) of the project work.
